Mother's Day and Tubes

Another great Mother’s Day spent with my Boys.  We all went to the Topeka Zoo and took a train ride around Gage Park.  The animals were in a good mood and showing off for the visitors.  The Giraffes and Orangutans were showing off all of their moves.  Conner was able to see the baby Hippos and feed the goats.  Feeding the goats almost rated as high as the train ride…almost

look daddy look!

mommy we are too close to the mamingo!

snack time?

After Mother’s Day we were scheduled to finally get Conner’s ear tube surgery.  He was an amazing trooper!  (Better than mom and dad!) We were scheduled for surgery at 7:30am and the whole process took less than 45 minutes.  We got into the waiting/holding room and to Conner’s amazement it was a Dinosaur room!  When Dr. Dinesdale (Dr. D) came into the room, Conner jumped off the chair came and gave me and Brett a huge hug and kiss-grabbed his blanket, then took Dr. D’s hand and walked HIM to the O.R.  All of the other nurses and doctors stopped talk and watched Conner leading Dr. D down the hall.  He never turned back once! The nurses however looked back at us and asked “how did you do that?”  Brett and I looked at each other and said “we think he was ready to get the hurt out of his ears.”
The surgery went really well.  They had to do some suction on his right ear to get all the fluid out – it had become thick.  He woke up just before we got into the recovery room and was already demanding his shoes.  His right ear hurt and we had some tears until we got to IHOP where there were pancakes and a gift of cars from daddy and mommy for being so good at his extra special doctors visit.

Hope you are all enjoying your spring! Love from Kansas

  1. I love that he did so well for you getting his tubes in. You will continue to be amazed at the complete lack of infections he'll have for the next, say, year. Yay, Conner!
