Toddlers and Halloween

It is official - we are a toddler!
We have slept the last three nights in our very own "big boy" bed. Conner loves his bed and enjoys getting in and out of it all by himself. So far he has stayed in bed until Mom or Dad come and get him out. After the first night in his big boy bed, his rushed out and gave Brett and HUGE hug and said "thank you daddy for my new bed!"

Halloween was fun! We did the annual trick-or-treat on Mass Street. Conner was a pirate, arg! We joined some of our Wednesday Play group at the Library and all went together. This year we walked almost all the way ourselves and said "trick -or- treat" and "thank you" to every store clerk. When we got home the little man helped to handout treats to the neighborer hood kids. We made it all night without being frighted by an witches or ghouls.

Hope the fall weather brings warm tidings to you all -near and far!

Conner and Mom fly North

It has been quite awhile since I have found the time to tell you all about the fun we have been having during the end of summer and start of fall

Conner and I recently had a chance to fly up North and spend some time with Nana and Pappy.  Conner was a great flier – a real champ!  Now that he is two he gets his own seat.  He spent the majority of the flight looking out the window narrating the view.

When we arrived at Nana and Pappy’s Conner discovered the garden!  I have never seen a child so excited to harvest carrots!

Every day of our trip was filled with fun and excitement!!  I think that the train museum, apple picking and Snuffy’s might have been Conner’s favs!!  For those of you not from St. Paul – Snuffy’s is one of the best burger and malt shops in town!!   Conner and I both got our first taste/love of malts at Snuffy’s at about the same age!  Now my little man is addicted to strawberry malts!!!

Apple Picking was so much fun!  Conner must have eaten an apple off of every tree in the orchard!  After picking our fill of apples, Conner and Pappy spent some “guy time” riding John Deer tractors.  We all waited really patently for a hay-ride.  One the way home we all discovered that Conner a pop-corn addict!  “More please” was all we heard on the ride home from the orchard.

At the train museum Conner got to drive Thomas the Train and Percy!  He must have spent about 30 minutes going from one train to the other!  (for those of you that have 2 yr olds or know any, 30 minutes of concentrated play with one thing is kind of amazing!)

There were so many other wonderful adventures on this trip.  Conner is still talking about riding a plane to “innesota”.  We had a great time and can’t wait to see all the Northern Family again during the Holidays!

Grandma Chris comes to visit

We have just finished a wonderful visit form Grandma Chris. She arrived on a Big Blue Plane and took us to the Kansas City Zoo. We saw elephants, rhinos, hippos, lions, MONKEYS and polar bears! And we got to ride the train!!!! Conner had such a great time and made it all day without a nap – maybe the ice cream at the end of the day helped!

what do we see?  Flamingos!!
moneys!!!!!
three generations of Popps!
Holding Grandma's hand like a "big boy"

The last night here Grandma took us to On the Border and Conner had his fill of chips and black beans. Thanks for the great time Grandma! See you in Thanksgiving in WI!

Conner turns 2!

Happy Birthday Conner!

I can’t believe that my little man is 2 years old today! We have such a wonderful journey with our energetic boy! The first this he did this morning was put on this new helmet! It took him about 5 minutes to realize that it was sitting on his new birthday bike (thanks grama). As the norm for Conner’s birthday it HOT here in KS (100 today), so we tried out our new bike this morning.

Conner has been attempting to play golf with his father (thanks pappy)! And the puzzles and alphabet toys is a huge hit (thanks nana)!

The huge hit this year was Thomas the Tank Engine. Mommy and daddy got Conner a small set and then we used the “funny money” from CAPPY senior to build a larger set. We also got Conner a digger train and we came close to sleeping with this evening.

Thank you to all our wonderful family for helping to make Conner’s 2nd birthday fun and exciting for the little man!

Douglas County Fair

We finally made it to the Douglas County Fair – the last day – but we made it! Conner woke up telling Brett and I that we were going to see the sheep and horses, today mommy!

Needless to say as soon as we pulled up and parked Conner saw the farm equipment and Bobcats and that was it! He was so excited to get to sit inside a Bobcat that he almost forgot about the animals until he heard a cow mooo.

i can do it!
my digger daddy!
my Bobcat !!
The petting area at the Fair was fun. Conner (and daddy) got to pet sheep, lambs, a pig and a donkey. They both really wanted to pet the ostrich…but that was the only animal with a “will bite” sign…

It was too hot for the pony ride, so maybe next year…

On the way home we stopped to buy a helmet for Conner. He doesn’t know it yet but grama (Chris) got his a bike for his birthday! Whenever Conner sees anyone riding a bike or motorcycle, he tells us about helmets and how they go on your head. So we as “good parents” thought that we should reinforce the helmet rule starting with his first bike. Can’t wait to see how he reacts to the bike tomorrow morning.

Our first visit from Jack-Jack Attack (aka Jackson) and his parents

Early this summer Jackson, Emma, Tony, Nana and Pappy came for a wonderful family visit.  Conner had a great time with this little cuz.  We went to the farmers market, the park, played in the backyard with Conner's new wheelbarrow and made pancakes!  Conner had such a fun time with Jackson, that he kept asking "where Jackson?" when ever he woke up from his nap.

It was such fun to have my little sis and her wonderful family come and visit us in our first home here in Kansas.  Now that I think about it, those were the last "cool" days that we have had here in Kansas this summer...

pancakes please!!
hold on Jackson - this dino ricks!

step one - mom tries to blog...

As our little man nears two we have decided that we can no longer keep his amazing adventures and daily discoveries to ourselves, we have to share!

Conner's most recent saying has mom and dad laughing - "oh my gosh".  This is said at least once a car ride and almost always if his sippy cup can't be found.  "Oh my gosh mommy - green semi"  "Oh my gosh, where my water daddy"  Oh, and the best part - is the hand gesture that accompanies this wonderful new saying.  Both hands outreaches with shrugged shoulders, and a worried look on his face.  We are still trying to find out where this new and daily saying came from.

(so this image is an old one - but it shows his wonderful fashion sense - all the kids are wearing their Easter baskets as hats this year mom!)
